I graduated Lynchburg College with a Financial Economics degree which led me to 15+ years as an accountant. I had experience in many different industries including software, non-profits and public accounting. I currently work as a part-time consultant for small businesses to optimize technology solutions for their accounting functions.
However, through the years, I found myself uninspired by those mundane hours working at the office. Always a lover of wine, I decided I wanted to learn more about it. I landed my first job in the wine industry in 2007, working part time at Barrel Thief, a wine shop/bar in Richmond's West End. There, not only did I get the knack for all things wine but it is where my passion for wine took off, and it has yet to slow down!
With over six years in the local DC wine industry, I have experience ranging from retail, distribution and production. Within the industry, I held positions such as sales rep for Global Wines Distribution, marketing manager for Boxwood Winery and store manager of the now closed, Market Cellars. With each experience, I took away more knowledge of wine as well as the industry.
In August 2010, I founded the Young Winos of DC, a group of fellow wine lovers who want to expand their knowledge of wine through fun, social gatherings. I hosted and promoted social, educational wine events around the DC Metro Area for over six years.
The most recent years have been filled with house renovations, getting married and starting a family. My husband, Spencer, and I purchased a home in North Bethesda, MD in the summer of 2018. We are gradually renovating it room by room. You can track the progress at www.thisbrickhome.com.
After getting married in February 2020, we went on the IVF path to get our family started. Thanks to science, we now have our first child, Elliott, who was born July 2021. And much to our surprise, we’re pregnant again with another boy, due December 2022. #2under2
